Celebrating 10 Years of Gentoo

This month, the team over here at SevenL would love to send a huge congratulations to Gentoo on celebrating the 10 year anniversary of being a kick ass distribution of Linux.

David Gallo of SevenL Networks Inc. Congratulating Gentoo on 10 years of excellence!

It feels like only yesterday when SevenL was first getting started and we intuitively knew that Gentoo would catch on like wild fire. Even if it remained completely underground we would have loved it and supported it just the same. The Gentoo community has been so great with us that we sincerely want to wish the entire community and anyone that has supported Gentoo over the years a Happy Decade and we look forward to another strong decade!

A healthy portion of our clients are running Gentoo as their linux flavour of choice and we run Gentoo on many internal machines. In addition, we have sponsored Gentoo for over 6 years now.

We would also like to thank Robin. H. Johnson from Gentoo, Developer, Trustee, and Infra Guru , for all his collaboration and support over the years.

Keep rocking out! We love you guys! :)

Why Does SevenL Help Linux and Open Source Software?

In 2003, SevenL Networks stepped back and took a good look at our customers. A most obvious trend jumped out at us – the majority of our customers were turning to Linux and Open Source for their mission-critical services.

SevenL made a decision that goes against all business rules and beliefs – offer our services for free to Linux distributions and open source software with only one rule:  that the server is used for the growth of their Linux organization and the open source movement.

In 2003 we began by donating three dedicated servers to Gentoo Linux and more to CentOS. Now, we’re proud to add Arch Linux, Linux Mint, Startcom Linux and PartedMagic to that prestigious list with their own dedicated web hosting servers.

Why Choose SevenL Networks?

Besides giving back to the community, we have just completely overhauled our line of award winning dedicated hosting offerings to give you the most optimized hardware at incredible prices.  Complete high-quality dedicated hosting solutions are now starting at only $40 per month and are designed to give you the advantage!

Our state of the art data center was built by us, is owned by us and is fully optimized for speed and security and is 99.9% uptime guaranteed. Our Relentless Support™ team is both helpful and friendly.

With hundreds of clients in dozens of countries, SevenL Networks provides top-tier, high-performance dedicated hosting solutions for mission-critical applications. All servers are affordably priced and completely flexible and customizable to meet your specific business needs.

SevenL Networks Donating to FreeBSD and Debian Organizations

Toronto, Canada – Toronto, Canada, April 28 – In addition to continuing support of Gentoo Linux, SevenL Networks (website) announces it will be making monetary donations to FreeBSD (website) and Debian (website) Linux upon every FreeBSD or Debian Dedicated Server sale. “[Debian and FreeBSD] are doing great things and we wanted to find a way to not only thank those communities but help them in attaining their goals”. said Daniel Gallo, Founding Director of SevenL Networks. FreeBSD and Debian are non-profit, community-based organizations distributing their own unique flavors of Linux. Both rely heavily on hardware and monetary donations from their worldwide user-base not only to grow but to stay alive.

“It should be noted that SevenL could not exist if it wasn’t for the time and dedication put forth by many individuals around the world developing these Linux distributions; people working for the greater good. Now we’re doing our part too”, says Gallo.

Now, $50CAD ($40USD) from every Debian or FreeBSD dedicated server sale will go to helping the organizations that made it all possible.
